In 1898 werd in Rothes, Speyside, tegenover de beroemde Glen Grant-distilleerderij een nieuwe distilleerderij opgericht, genaamd Glen Grant 2. Deze distilleerderij sloot echter al snel haar deuren, in 1902. Pas in 1965, na een ingrijpende verbouwing en onder nieuw eigenaarschap, heropende de distilleerderij haar deuren onder de naam Caperdonich.
